Students spend years one and two at the home institution and years three and four at the partner, receiving a bachelor's degree from each. The programme runs five years.

Your CityU electronic identity account. It arrives together with your application number after you apply, and is used to log in to your application account and University systems (including AIMS and CityUHK Pay).

The fee paid when confirming acceptance of an offer. HK$15,000 for non-local applicants and HK$5,000 for local applicants. Fees paid are neither refundable nor transferable.

A CityU scholarship for Mainland Chinese students admitted through the Gaokao route, in three tiers — full scholarship, full tuition waiver and half tuition waiver. No separate application is needed; it is awarded on Gaokao results, interview performance and overall qualities.

The form in which the student visa is issued once approved. The Immigration Department no longer issues sticker visas.

The document used in a visa application to show you have enough money for tuition and living costs. The Immigration Department sets no specific amount, but evidence of liquid funds such as a deposit statement is normally submitted; a current account is acceptable with no minimum freezing period. The amount should match page 3 of ID995A.

From the 2026 academic year CityU admits Mainland Gaokao students directly through “Mainland Gaokao direct admission”, without taking part in the unified enrolment scheme and without using one of your unified-scheme choices.

The accommodation fee for a University-managed residence. For Semesters A and B in a double room, excluding summer, it is HK$20,800 for the year. A single room for health reasons costs double (HK$41,600).

The arrangement letting non-local graduates who have completed a full-time programme and taken a degree in Hong Kong apply to stay and work here. Administered by the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

The main undergraduate admissions route for Hong Kong local students, based on DSE results. Mainland Gaokao students go through direct admission instead, which has nothing to do with JUPAS.

A document issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department with the student visa, listing the categories of work the holder may do (on-campus part-time work, summer work, internships related to the programme, and other listed activities). Work outside what the NOL covers is a breach.

The admission route for local applicants who do not go through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System. Non-local applicants with overseas or other qualifications have their own routes.

Hong Kong official documents call it the “cut-off for first-tier key universities” or the “special-type admissions control line”. CityU requires an actual Gaokao score (excluding bonus points) of at least this level.

The permission to come to Hong Kong to study, issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. Anyone without the right of abode or the right to land needs one. CityU charges a visa administrative fee of HK$600.

For non-local students entering government-funded bachelor's degree programmes in 2026-27, tuition is HK$190,000 per academic year; for the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine it is HK$392,000. The Government may revise the minimum tuition level during your studies.

The Hong Kong statutory body that allocates higher-education funding and advises on policy. CityU's government-funded programmes are funded by the UGC.

A condition of stay attached to the student visa. Non-local students may only do the four categories of activity the NOL lists (on-campus part-time work, summer work, programme-related internships and other listed activities); all other work is prohibited.
